HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis completed the non-conference portion of the season on Saturday with a 5-2 victory at Hofstra.
Katarina Plumtree and
Aina March earned singles wins to lead the Stags.
"It was good to get in one last non-conference match. Doubles looked good, but singles was a little up and down. We'll work on it early this week before conference play resumes," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker.
The Stags started doubles play with an advantage, as the Pride defaulted in the #3 spot. March and
Anna Komer locked up the point with a 6-2 win at #2, and the #1 doubles team of
Scarlett Hutchinson and
Francesca Karman completed the sweep with a 6-3 triumph.
Hofstra also defaulted at #5 and #6 singles, staking Fairfield to a 3-0 lead. March promptly won the clincher – 6-1, 6-1 – and at #3 singles and Plumtree earned the final Stags' victory of the day with a 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) win at #1.
Fairfield is back home on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts when MAAC play resumes on Wednesday, April 7 against Monmouth.
