Stags Sweep Unbeaten Hofstra, 4-0

Fairfield hands Hofstra its first loss of the spring

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Fairfield University Men's Tennis finished off a decisive sweep on Saturday afternoon at Hofstra, clinching a 4-0 victory over the previously unbeaten Pride. Fairfield swept the doubles point and got singles wins from Jonathan Olive-Blanco, Lewis Edwards and Griffin Schlesinger to lock up with 4-0 win.

The Stags move to 3-2 on the year with the non-conference triumph.

"That was a great team performance today. We were solid up and down the lineup," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "We played with great energy from the first ball to the last! Great way to finish up before resuming conference play."

Fairfield's doubles wins both came by a count of 6-2, with the duo of Olive-Blanco and Keean Shah winning in the #2 spot and Edwards pairing with Allan Magid at #3. At #1 singles, Kaya Gore and Stathis Tsiranidis were leading 5-2 when their match was halted due to the Stags having clinched the point.

In singles action, Olive Blanco won at #3, Schlesinger won at #6 and Edwards picked up the match-ender at #4. Also of note, Shah was on the verge of a win at #5 – owning a 7-6 (4), 5-3 advantage when the contest came to a close.

Today's win was the final non-conference contest for the Stags. Fairfield is back home on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts when MAAC play resumes on Thursday, April 8 with a visit from Marist.
