RIDGEFIELD, N.J. -- The Fairfield University men's rowing team continued its spring season with a successful Saturday as the Stags swept all three races against Iona College. The varsity 8, the varsity four and the novice 4 each won their respective races during the day.
The varsity 8 started things off with a strong run that resulted in top two finishes for the Stags followed by Iona in third place. The A bat ran the course in 6:44.99 behind the efforts of
Seamus O'Brien,
Collin Hicks, Jake Godwin,
Spencer Chidley,
Jerry Malloy, Mike Pagliaro,
Michael Greene,
Brady Stergion, and coxswain Tom Flynn. The B entry crossed the finish line in 7:04.53 through the efforts
Alex Hemmat,
Ryan Borsy, Alex Komarynskyj, Alex Pringle, Alex Beckwith, Mike Hamilton,
Brendan Martin,
Mike McCarthy, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia. Iona took the final slot in the race with a run of 7:57.55.
In the varsity four race, the Stags also took first and second places with the A boat taking the number one in 7:15.59 followed by the B shell in 7:36.55. The first entry included
Michael Greene, Mike Pagliaro, Jake Godwin,
Brady Stergion, and coxswain Matt Tarabocchia. The second entry was comprised by
Seamus O'Brien,
Spencer Chidley,
Jerry Malloy,
Collin Hicks, and coxswain Tom Flynn.
The novice 4 was involved in a close race that ended with less than a second separating first-place Fairfield and runner up Iona. The Stags posted a time of 7:30.55 in contrast to the Gaels run of 7:31.31. Fairfield's entry included
