HAMDEN, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis was on the short side of a 5-2 loss at first-place Quinnipiac in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon. In addition to nabbing the doubles point, the Stags picked up a point at #6 singles with a win for
Anna Komer.
Following the final regular season contest on the schedule, Fairfield is currently 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the MAAC. The Stags have one outstanding MAAC match remaining – a home outing against Marist – but that match has not currently been rescheduled. Quinnipiac is 7-4 overall and alone in first-place at 5-0 in the conference.
Fairfield laid claim to the doubles point with a win at #1 for
Scarlett Hutchinson and
Francesca Karman as well as a victory at #2 for the duo of
Amanda Nowak and
Katarina Plumtree. Komer's singles win came in convincing fashion at the #6 spot by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
The Stags will now await the announcement of the MAAC Championship seeding and bracket. The tournament is slated for April 24-25 at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J.
