WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis was on the short side of a 4-1 loss to Siena on Saturday afternoon in the Semifinal round of the 2021 MAAC Championship.
Scarlett Hutchinson earned a singles win with the duo of
Anna Komer and
Sophia Prinos picking up a doubles victory for the Stags.
The loss concludes the 2021 campaign for the Stags, who earned the second seed in the tournament. Siena (6-3) advances to challenge top-seeded Quinnipiac in Sunday's final.
Komer and Prinos won their doubles match at the #3 spot by a score of 6-2, but Siena claimed the point with wins in the #1 and #2 positions.
In singles play, the Saints picked up wins at #6 and #4 to extend their lead to 3-0. Hutchinson followed with a 6-4, 7-5 victory at #3 to stave off elimination, but Siena's Meagan Brown grabbed the clincher at #1 singles to seal the 4-1 win.
Also of note for the Stags,
Katarina Plumtree held a 6-2, 5-2 lead at #2 singles when the match concluded.
