TRUMBULL, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis capped off a 2-0 weekend on Sunday with a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win over Siena at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
Anna Komer – Fairfield's lone senior this spring – was victorious in singles and doubles as a part of the 5-2 team triumph.
"That was by far our best performance of the year," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We could see the intensity in warm-ups and they carried it through the entire match. We played excellent doubles to set the tone and then got a nice win from Francesca to get us going in singles. The freshmen, Katarina and Scarlett, came up big for us as well to get us to four points. Finally, our senior
Anna Komer finished it off with a nice comeback win at #6!"
The Stags swept the doubles point, getting wins from
Scarlett Hutchinson and
Francesca Karman at #1,
Amanda Nowak and
Katarina Plumtree at #2, and Komer and
Sophia Prinos at #3.
In singles, wins from Karman, Plumtree and Hutchinson clinched the team victory, with Komer's win in a three-set tiebreak rounding out the 5-2 final.
