MANCHESTER, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Tennis was on the short end of a 5-2 decision to host UConn this afternoon in Manchester. The Stags got singles wins from
Francesca Karman and
Sophia Prinos against the Huskies.
"Although we came up short today, we had some encouraging results.
Sophia Prinos played great and
Francesca Karman continues to play at a high level. And beyond that, our doubles looked much better today," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "I think we are starting to get a little more comfortable in singles as well which should bode well as we move into more conference play next week."
Karman's victory came in the #3 spot, where she topped Denise Lai in a tiebreak. Prino rolled to her third singles win of the season – 6-1, 6-2 – over the Huskies' Elizabeth Kozyi.
The Stags close out the non-conference slate this Saturday, April for a noon visit to Stony Brook. Action returns to campus on April 7 against Monmouth on Wednesday, April 7.
