CUMBERLAND, R.I. – Coming off of their first win of 2021, Fairfield University Women's Tennis saw its momentum stopped by host Bryant on Sunday afternoon in Cumberland, R.I. The Stags got singles wins from
Katarina Plumtree and
Anna Komer, but the Bulldogs took the rest of the slate to claim a 5-2 decision.
"Bryant came out strong in doubles and got us on our heels and we just never recovered," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "Credit to Bryant for playing well, but we made too many errors at too many positions to win. Shout out to Katarina for her first collegiate win – she played a great match today."
Plumtree's win came at the #1 spot, topping Ada Boru in straight sets – 6-4, 7-5. Komer played at #6 singles, where she earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Caterina Luisa Rokke.
Bryant swept the doubles action, with the Stags' top performance coming at #1 from Komer and Francesa Karman. The duo fell 6-4 to the team of Boru and Leanne Kendall.
Up next, the Stags trek to Western New York to begin MAAC play at Niagara on Saturday, March 27 at 3 p.m.
