NEW HAVEN, CT — Playing Yale is never easy, especially when it is the match before spring break, indoors. Indeed the Fairfield players have already hit outside in preparation for the upcoming contests in Orlando. But despite being competitive in almost all the matches the Stags came out on the short end today.
Without question the highlight of doubles was the performance of Fairfield's No. 1 team
Kaya Gore and
Jonathan Olive-Blanco. Taking over the net and serving well, the pair was up 4-3 when the match was abandoned.
As for singles all the Stags played well, albeit in a losing effort. It just seemed though that when the big points arose Fairfield could not come through or was penalized by fortuitous lets by their opponents. "Yale is a very good team and they played at a high level today. I thought we competed well in singles but came up a little short throughout. The guys are definitely looking forward to getting outside next week!"
The Stags next take on Northern Kentucky at 11:30 am in Orlando, FL, at the USTA national campus.
