ORLANDO, FL — For some college students spring break means Cancun, Fort Lauderdale or Padre Island. But for many college tennis players spring break means only one thing: getting to play matches outdoors at the USTA National Campus. Is that Frances Tiafoe over there?
Unfortunately for Fairfield the outdoor part of its schedule did not get off to a good start as Northern Kentucky defeated the Stags today 6-1.
The stars of the show in doubles were undoubtedly Fairfield's No. 2 team,
Lewis Edwards and
Tyler Shibles. They handily defeated their Norse opponents 6-1.
In singles junior
Allan Magid, playing at No. 6, garnered Fairfield's only point as he prevailed 6-2, 3-6, 10-6. At No. 5 freshman
Griffin Schlesinger lost in a third-set superbreaker, 10-8.
The Stags next face Farleigh Dickinson in Orlando, tomorrow at 11:30 am.
