FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team returns home for a one-game stay as the Stags host Canisius College on Sunday afternoon. The game will be played on George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall beginning at 2 pm.
The Stags dropped both games of its recent two-game road trip, the most recent coming at Quinnipiac on Friday night. Fairfield trailed by four points at halftime but struggled by shooting 36 percent from the floor in the second half, resulting in an 81-67 loss in Hamden. The Bobcats scored 45 points over the final 20 minutes, the most the Stags have surrendered in a half this season. The previous high stood at 42 points which Marist accomplished in the second half of its win at Webster Bank Arena.
Quinnipiac was able to score 81 points in the game mainly because of its success from behind the three-point line, netting 12 in the game.
Landon Taliaferro found his touch against the Bobcats, posting 21 points, including three three three-point field goals. The performance was Taliaferro's third 20-point effort this season and second over the last four games.
Jesus Cruz came off the bench to score 10 points, the most by a Fairfield reserve.
Taj Benning added 12 points against Quinnipiac, his third straight double-digit performance. Taliaferro leads the team in scoring with13.8 points per game while Cruz is next in line with an 11.5 scoring average.

Chris Maidoh took over the team lead in rebounding, collecting 6.6 caroms per contest. Eze is also doing well on the boards, posting 6.0 rebounds every forty minutes.
Aidas Kavaliauskas has dished off a team-best 25 assists in seven games (3.5 per game) and is shooting 53 percent from behind the arc (8 of 15).
The Golden Griffins saw their three-game win streak come to an end with their 69-66 setback at Iona. Canisius fell to 2-8 in road games following the result, a stark contrast to its 5-2 home mark. The team nearly erased a 22-point deficit against the Gaels, coming within four points before falling by the final margin.
Malik Johnson picked up a double-double in the game, dishing off 10 assists and securing 11 rebounds in addition to his five points. Jordan Henderson led all Canisius scorers with 20 points while Majesty Brandon netted 19 points off the bench. Johnson paces the team in both scoring (13.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.2 rpg), followed closely by Brandon's 13.0 points every forty minutes. Johnson leads the MAAC in assists with 6.2 per game as well as in steals with 2.3 per contest. Brandon represents the team's top three-point shooting threat, netting 31 in his 19 appearances.
Sunday's game will also serve as the team's annual "pink game" as a part of National Coaches vs. Cancer Week. T-shirts and raffle tickets will be sold and donations will be collected to support the Norma Pfriem Breast Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to promote breast cancer awareness.
