Biography

2019-20
Landon Taliaferro continued to prove that he was one of the top three-point shooters in the nation by adding 63 three-point field goals to his career total, ending his career with 153 over his two seasons with the Stags. He set a school record for three-point field goals in a game when he netted 10 in 15 attempts against Texas A&M in front of nationally-televised audience at the ESPN Orlando Invitational. Taliaferro placed sixth in the MAAC with 2.0 three-point field goals per game (63 made in 31 games). The guard netted 10 or more points in 19 of his 31 appearances including three 20-plus point efforts. In addition to his Texas A&M output, Taliaferro also netted 24 points against Manhattan and 21 points at Quinnipiac. He ended his Fairfield career with 742 points in 61 games which translates into a 12.2 career scoring average at Fairfield. He also served as one of the team’s top free throw shooters over the last two season, registering a .923 free throw percentage as a senior (60 of 65). He started 29 of his 31 appearances in 2019-20, coming off the bench in back to back games at Marist and at Saint Peter’s.

2018-19
Taliaferro ended his inaugural campaign with the Stags as the team's top scorer with 12.3 points per game as well as the squad's most lethal three-point shooter with 90 baskets from behind the arc. He became the third Stag in school history to reach 90 three pointers in a season, joining Tyler Nelson (104 in 2017-18) and Ferron Flavors Jr. (95 in 2017-18). Taliaferro ranked 22nd in Division I with his .423 three-point percentage and 46th with his 3.0 three pointers made per game. The guard made eight three pointers in two games, notably against Rider (8 of 14) and Manhattan (8 of 18), He registered five or more three pointers seven times including three of his first five appearances with the program (5 vs. LIU Brooklyn, 6 vs. Wagner, and 5 vs Longwood). He reached double figures in each of his first seven games as a Stag, averaging 16.7 points per outing (117 points). Taliaferro would finished the year with 11 more double-digit scoring efforts for a total of 18 with four of those performances coming in the final five games of the year. He was also solid at the free throw line where he connected on 31 of 42 tries (.738) with his best performance coming against Iona (11 of 12). Taliaferro was the team's top scorer in five games during 2018-19, the last of which came in his season-high 29 points against Rider on January 3.

Before Fairfield
Taliaferro joins the Fairfield University men's basketball program after spending the previous two seasons at Laramie County Community College. In his first year at Laramie County, Taliaferro averaged seven points per game but saw that scoring average grow to 22 points per contest by the end of his second and final year with the program. His scoring average rose primarily from his ability to shoot long range, leading NJCAA in three-pointers made with 130 during the 2017-18 season, including a game in which he netted 10 three pointers. He shot 49 percent from the floor and 48 percent from behind the arc. He posted six games with 30 or more points, highlighted by his 38-point effort against Western Wyoming Community College. He left the school after being named to the Region IX First Team.
