FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball team will play in just one midweek game on the upcoming ledger and it comes on Wednesday afternoon when the team travels to take on Hofstra at 3pm. The Stags, who have won 10 of their last 12 outings, will be looking for their fifth-straight win against the Pride.
The Stags are coming off their third-straight conference series victory to start the season as they took two out of three at Siena.
Anthony Boselli led the team with five hits during the series, while four other Stags achieved four hits during the three games.
Mike Caruso was one of those four and he also led the team with a .889 slugging percentage. His biggest hit came in the top of the 12th inning in the opener as he would launch the eventual game-winning two run homer in a 6-4 victory.
As usual, the Fairfield bullpen found success for the Stags as they registered a 1.27 ERA in the series.
Eli Oliphant started the stretch as he got the win in the opener with a four inning outing, forcing extras by striking out the side in the ninth. Oliphant allowed just one run while striking out five in the victory.
Nick Grabek earned two saves during the series, bringing his season total to six. Those six saves ties him for third on the single season list with Justin Severino in 2009.
The Stags will be taking on a Hofstra team with a 5-21 overall record which includes wins over Liberty, Manhattan, Northeastern, Saint Peter's and Incarnate Word.
Vito Friscia leads the team in almost every offensive category including: average (.298), hits (25), runs (14), RBI (13), and home runs (four).
The Stags will conclude their seven-game road trip when they visit Saint Peter's for a three game series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
