BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Anthony Boselli continued his hot hitting with six hits on the afternoon, raising his team average to .481 through six games, but the Stags were swept losing Saturday's doubleheader 11-6 and 6-3.
Game One: Campbell 11, Fairfield 6
Mike Caruso put the Stags on the board first by manufacturing a run in the second. The catcher singled to left to begin the inning and would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Dan Ryan. Caruso would then steal third and score on a fielding error.
Campbell would take the lead after single runs in the second and third inning, but the Stags would regain the advantage in the fourth.
Dan Ryan got the big hit with a two-run double scoring Boselli and
Dylan Reynolds.
Campbell would regain the lead in the bottom half of the inning with three two-out RBI including a steal of home.
Fairfield would get within a run in the fifth with two fielding errors leading to runs. The Fighting Camels would score three in the sixth which would lead to an 11-6 win.
Game Two: Campbell 6, Fairfield 3
Michael Sansone dominated the dangerous Campbell bats in just his second collegiate start, retiring the first 16 batters he faced and not allowing a run in six innings. The freshman struck out six on the night, including four-straight after striking out the side in the second.
Sansone was in the line for a win after Boselli delivered again with a two-run double in the seventh.
Dylan Reynolds would follow with a RBI single through the left side.
The Fairfield bullpen was not able to keep the lead, as Campbell struck for six runs in the seventh.
Along with Boselli's six hits, he also drove in three runs and scored twice. Caruso and
Jack Gethings each tallied three hits on the night.
Fairfield will hit the road again as they travel to Delaware for a three-game series with the Blue Hens on Friday, March 8 at 3pm.
