NEWARK, Dela. – Dan Ryan collected the biggest of the nine hits for the Fairfield University Baseball team with his two-run home run, but it was not enough as the Delaware Blue Hens managed to salvage the final game of a three-game series with the Stags, taking a 7-4 decision.
Dan Ryan was one of eight different Stags to collect at least one hit, with
Tim Zeng leading the group with a pair.
Fairfield trailed 4-0 entering the sixth, but Ryan's blast was able to tie the score after
Anthony Boselli began the frame with a single.
Ryan notched his third RBI of the game in the very next frame as his RBI ground out plated
Jack Gethings and knotted the score at 4-4. Gethings reaches base by driving in Zeng who started the rally with a leadoff double and would advance to third on a fielding error.
Despite tying the score, Delaware was able to take the lead in the seventh on a two-out RBI double and tacked on two more in the eighth for the victory.
Fairfield's next series brings them to Providence, R.I., when they visit Brown for a four-game series starting on Friday at 3pm.
