FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will take the short ride to New York City for their final road game of the non-conference slate when they take on St. John's on Friday at 1pm. The match will represent Fairfield's second this season against a team from the Big East, as they fell to Seton Hall last month.
The Stags are coming off a two week break as they focused on final exams, with their last game coming in a 73-64 overtime win over Hofstra. Fairfield had a chance to close out the game in regulation after
Sam Kramer swished through a foul line jumper with 1.5 seconds left to give the Stags a two point lead. The Pride, however, would advance the ball after the timeout out and connect on a baseline drive for a buzzer-beating layup.
Katie Armstrong was the leader for the Stags in the extra period as she netted seven-straight points, with the Stags tallying 16 points in the overtime period. Armstrong would lead four Stags in double figures as she tallied a career-high 24 points.
Fairfield's win over the Pride marked the program's first victory over Hofstra since the 1981-82 season.

St. John's enters the game after a close loss to No. 8 Florida State on Sunday, falling to the Seminoles 74-70. The loss snapped a mini two-game winning streak for the Johnnies after wins over Yale and Army. St. John's averaged 88.0 points in those two wins.

Qadashah Hoppie leads the team with a 16.3 scoring average and has connected on nearly 42 percent of her shots from deep.
The Stags will have their quickest turnaround of the season, with just one day off before their next game on Sunday at home against Brown at 2pm at the George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall.
