SHELTON, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's rowing team split the squad and competed in a pair of events this morning highlighted with the Varsity 8 placing three boats in the top four of the Sacred Heart Scare. The novice 8 and the varsity 4 also competed in Shelton this afternoon in an event hosted by Sacred Heart with a Stags crew coming in first in both events.

The Stags placed three 8s in the race and came away with a first, a third, and a fourth place finish. The winning crew crossed the finish line with a time of 6:35.61 behind the efforts ofÂ

Erin Dobbs. Fourth place was secured by the C crew by completing the course in 7:56.61 with Jess DeMarse, Abby Morrill, Ellie Schmieder,

Sophia King, and coxswain
Julia Neal on the water. Sacred Heart took second place (7:26.61), fifth place (8:15.61), and sixth place (8:25.61).

The novice 8 secured a win with its lone entry as Sacred Heart followed with the second and third-place boats. The Stags were represented by

Katelynn Banville. Fairfield's winning time of 8:16.98 was more than 20 seconds better than the Pioneers B entry (8:37.52) and their C entry (9:14.82).
The Stags placed three boats in the varsity 4 race but those crews were all that were necessary to secure the top three finishes. The C boat secured the top spot with its time of 8:10.89 as
