DANBURY, Conn. – Ninety Fairfield University student-athletes have earned academic honors from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) for their performance during the spring semester. The Stags' 90 honorees represent nearly two-thirds of all eligible Fairfield student-athletes in the sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's swimming and diving.
"This latest round of honors from the ECAC highlights the dedication to academic excellence exhibited by our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics
Paul Schlickmann. "These young men and women continue to set and achieve the highest standards of performance in the classroom, and we are all incredibly proud of their accomplishments."
Eligible student-athletes must have completed a full year at their current institution and have earned a grade-point average of 3.20 or higher in the spring 2018 semester. Fairfield landed 53 student-athletes on the ECAC Academic Honor Roll with GPAs between 3.20 and 3.59. An additional 37 student-athletes merited a place on the ECAC President's Honor Roll after earning semester GPAs of 3.60 or higher.
As a department as a whole, Fairfield student-athletes earned an aggregate GPA of 3.30 for the spring semester. Across all sports, 75 percent of Stags' student-athletes earned GPAs of 3.0 or above for the 2017-18 academic year with 40 percent netting a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
