Stags Place 274 on MAAC Academic Honor Roll

More than 80 percent of eligible Stags earned a spot on the ledger

EDISON, N.J. – A total of 274 Fairfield University student-athletes were among the 3,008 members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll, which was unveiled on Wednesday morning by the conference office. Fairfield ranked third in total honorees among the 11 full-time MAAC institutions.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale while competing in a MAAC-sponsored sport. Fairfield's 274 honorees represent more than 80 percent of eligible student-athletes from the Stags' 17 varsity programs that compete in the MAAC.

Fairfield ranked third in the MAAC in total honorees, just three short of Quinnipiac's 277. Marist led the roster with 334 Academic Honor Roll members.

As a whole, Fairfield's 20 varsity athletics programs and nearly 500 student-athletes earned a 3.53 department GPA in 2023-24, with all 20 teams meriting a 3.0 or higher. Sixty-two percent of Stags were named to the University Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher) in one or both semesters, including 115 student-athletes to merit a 4.0 in at least one semester.

In competition, Fairfield Athletics won the overall MAAC Commissioner's Cup for the first time since 2011-12. The Stags also won the MAAC Women's Commissioner's Cup for the third consecutive season and placed second in the MAAC Men's Commissioner's Cup standings.
