Homestand Continues with Tuesday Visit from Quinnipiac

Opening faceoff on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium is set for 3 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse reaches the midway point of its six-game homestand with a Tuesday afternoon visit from Quinnipiac. Opening faceoff on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium is slated for 3 p.m.  Tickets are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX. All of Tuesday's action will be broadcast on Facebook Live with J.J. Duke and Allison Gaskins on the call.

Last Time Out
Fairfield scored the last five goals of the day, but it would not be enough to overcome visiting Stony Brook this past Saturday as the Seawolves left Rafferty Stadium with an 11-9 decision. Jack Brennan, Charlie Horning and Joe Rodrigues each scored two goals for the Stags on the day.

Brennan added an assist to his two-goal day to ring up a career-best three points. Both of his markers came in man-up situations as Fairfield went 5-for-5 on extra-man opportunities. The performance on the EMO is the first perfect showing of at least five chances in the nation this season. Five man-up goals marks the most by a Fairfield team in a game since netting six in a win over Manhattan on Feb. 22, 2014.

Rounding out the attack were Drew Murray, Taylor Strough and McKay Sheahan with one goal apiece. Sheahan's goal was the first of his collegiate career. Colin Burke dished out three assists to move into a tie for 12th all-time (with Rob Scipioni '02) with 113 career points. Murray also handed out a pair of helpers for the first two-assist day of his career. Brennan, Strough, Dylan Beckwith and Liam DaRos each had one assist on the day.

Scouting Quinnipiac
The Quinnipiac Bobcats are 2-2 on the season following Saturday's 18-6 home win over NJIT. Quinnipiac has also posted an overtime win over Brown while taking losses to UMass Lowell (in overtime) and Vermont. Tuesday's game will be the first road outing for the Bobcats, who will play their first nine games of the season in the state of Connecticut before trekking to Detroit Mercy on March 31.

Mike Fletcher has paced the Quinnipiac attack through four games with nine goals and five assists. Jake Tomsik has also netted nine goals for the Bobcats, with Foster Cuomo as the club's top facilitator with six assists. Will Vitelli sets the tone for the offense with a .694 win percentage (59-for-85) in the faceoff X, a showing that includes a team-best 32 ground balls.

Joe Zukauskas has started the last two games in the cage, posting a 7.47 goals-against average and .567 save percentage against Vermont and NJIT. Carson Cocco got the start for the first two outings of the spring, registering an 11.91 GAA and a .489 save percentage. Rounding out the trio of goalkeepers is Brendan Engel, who has made two saves with three goals allowed in 15:32 of relief work.

All-Time Series vs. Quinnipiac (Fairfield leads 6-1)
The Stags have won their last five meetings with Quinnipiac to take a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series. After opening the series with a 15-2 win in 1999, the teams have met on a nearly annual basis since 2010, missing only the 2015 and 2017 seasons in that span. The most recent encounter was a 13-7 triumph for the Stags at Rafferty Stadium on March 22, 2016.
