Baseball Announces 2019 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Baseball program announced their 54-game schedule for the 2019 season, marking the 68th season of Fairfield baseball. The slate begins with a trip to the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C., to take on Penn State on February 22 at 2pm.

"Our 2019 schedule is built around competitive opponents against good Southern schools with some Mid-Atlantic programs which all should be a good test for our team," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "When we head back north, we will again play one of the most challenging non-conference schedules of Northeast baseball programs consisting of UConn, St. John's, Stony Brook, Yale, Hofstra and Fordham."

The Stags will play four games against the Nittany Lions, their only games in the month of February. Fairfield will return to the state of North Carolina to face the first of their four opponents who won 30 or more games in 2018, when they take on Campbell. The Camels are also one of three schools that advanced to the NCAA Regionals that will be part of Fairfield's non-conference slate, joining UConn (April 2) and Hartford (May 1).

Fairfield will play four more road series before opening up play at Alumni Diamond on March 25. The Stags will travel to play Delaware (Mar. 8-10), Brown (Mar. 15-17), James Madison (Mar. 19-20), and Iona to open up the MAAC slate (Mar. 23-24).

The Gaels are one of four road conference series for the Stags who will also travel to face Siena (Apr. 6-7), Saint Peter's (Apr. 13-14), and Niagara (May 4-5). At home, the Stags will host MAAC schools: Marist (Mar. 30-31), Monmouth (Apr. 19-20), Canisius (Apr. 27-28), and Quinnipiac (May 11-12).

With the schedule rotation, the Stags will not play Manhattan or Rider this season.

The Stags will open up play on Alumni Diamond on March 25 when they take on Central Connecticut State. Fairfield will also host: St. John's (Mar. 27), UConn (Apr. 2), Yale (Apr. 3), Fordham (Apr. 16), and Sacred Heart (Apr. 17).

Fairfield will close out the regular season with a trip to UMBC on May 18.

The 2019 season will also mark the eighth campaign under two-time MAAC Coach of the Year Bill Currier. In those eight seasons, the Stags have won two regular season titles, one tournament championship, and have averaged 26 victories per season.
