FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will play the middle game of their three-game road trip when they head to Loudonville, N.Y., for a contest against Siena on Monday night at 7pm.
Â
The Stags are coming off a 77-45 setback to league-leading Quinnipiac on Saturday, bringing their league record to 4-3. On the positive side, the Stags had their best shooting night from deep, hitting 50 percent of their attempts from 3-point range. Fairfield actually connected on six of their first 10 attempts in the contest. However, Quinnipiac was just a bit better as they opened the game hitting six of their first nine chances from behind the arc to open up the sizeable lead.
Â
While no Stag scored in double figures,
Samantha Cooper and
Sam Lewis led the Stags with eight points apiece. For Lewis, it was a career-high as she gave the team a spark with Cooper and
Casey Foley in foul trouble in the second quarter.
With Cooper's eight points, she has now tallied 1,095 in her career and stand 14 behind
Kelsey Carey for 26th all-time and
Stephanie Geehan by 17.
Â
On the other side of the court, Siena is coming off two-straight wins against Marist and Iona. During that mini-two game winning streak, the Saints have forced 20 turnovers per game and is shooting 82 percent from the free throw line. While Kollyns Scarbrough is the only Saint to average double figures per game, Sabrina Piper has been the spark during the last two contests, hitting 10 of her 15 attempts from the field.
Â
The Stags will close out their road trip at Rider on Saturday at 2pm.
