Stags Alumni TJ Neubauer and Jack Murphy Selected in 2018 MLL Supplemental Draft

Both will continue their professional careers in the 2018 MLL season

BOSTON – Two Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse alumni have been selected in today's 2018 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft. TJ Neubauer '16 was selected in the second round by the Charlotte Hounds, while Jack Murphy '14 was reclaimed by the Boston Cannons in the 12th round.

TJ Neubauer ranks third all-time in Fairfield Men's Lacrosse history with 109 goals, while his 122 total points in 60 games played with the Stags rank him at 10th all-time in program history. He also slots at third all-time with 172 career ground balls, the most at Fairfield by a non-faceoff specialist. Neubauer was a USILA All-America Honorable Mention in 2016, a three-time First Team All-New England selection, a two-time First Team All-CAA pick and a 2014 First Team All-ECAC honoree.

Originally a fourth round selection of the Rochester (now Dallas) Rattlers in the 2016 MLL Collegiate Draft, Neubauer was the highest-drafted Stag (in the collegiate draft) since Greg Downing '07 was the sixth overall pick of the Los Angeles Riptide in 2007.

Neubauer did not see game action for Rochester in 2016 and appeared in five games in 2017 with the Rattlers. Neubauer scored two goals and dished out an assist, adding six ground balls in the midfield.

The Charlotte Hounds roster also features veteran goalkeeper Charlie Cipriano '12, a two-time ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year and 2012 USILA All-America Honorable Mention for the Stags

Jack Murphy was a three-year member of the Stags from 2012-14, posting a .534 save percentage and 9.01 goals against average. The 2014 ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year was originally an eighth-round draft pick by the Cannons in 2014. Boston reclaimed Murphy today for his fourth year with the club in 2018. This past summer, he made three appearances totaling 94:58 in the cage.

Neubauer and Murphy are two of the 18 Stags to have been drafted or signed into the MLL ranks, 10 of whom suited up for Head Coach Andy Copelan during their collegiate careers.
