FAIRFIELD ,Conn. -- For the second straight season, outfielder Lauren Filicia was selected for the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA) All-Region first team. The All-Region team was determined by vote of the region's head coaches.

The senior finished the season with a ,408 batting average which helped her capture another All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) first team berth. During the season, Filicia posted 69  hits and 23 RBI. The outfielder put together a 26-game hitting streak from March 11 to April 23. During that run, Filicia batted .516 with 47 hits in 91 at-bats, registering 14 games with two or more hits.

After placing 29th in the nation last year for toughest to strike out (1 out of every 23.7 at-bats), Filicia moved up to 19th so far this season in that same category (1 out of every 32.2 at-bats). She has fanned just 12 times over the last two years out of a total of 376 plate appearances.

Filicia finished her career with 223 hits which ranks among Fairfield's all-time leaders. Her 69 hits in 2016 represent a career-best for the senior and gives her 136 hits in 99 games over her last two seasons with the Stags, averaging nearly 1.4 hits per contest during that stretch.

The outfielder has also performed equally as well in the classroom, earning MAAC All-Academic honors following her senior season.
