FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Junior
Alyssa Weinberg earned a berth to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team as the organization announced its annual postseason squads. Weinberg secured a spot on the East Region's third team as a pitcher.
Weinberg finished the 2025 campaign among the leaders in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). For her efforts, the left hander was selected as a first-team All-MAAC pitcher by vote of the conference coaches.
She is included several MAAC pitching statistical categories, highlighted by her second-place position with 18 wins on the season. She is also top 10 in the MAAC for strikeouts (1st– 190), innings pitched (3rd – 180.0), and ERA (7
th - 2.29). She fanned 10 or more hitters in four games this year including a personal-best 16 against Merrimack College. In that game, Weinberg struck out the first 10 batters she faced before settling on her final number.
Weinberg is already starting to make her move up the Fairfield career lists, currently placing fifth all-time with 318 strikeouts. She is averaging 6.39 strikeouts per seven innings pitched, which currently leaves her second on Fairfield's career list, trailing only Melissa Santos' mark of 9.09 per seven innings. Her 28 career wins and 87 career appearances leave her just six short of cracking the top 10 in both categories.
The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach
Julie Brzezinski, finished the 2025 campaign with a 26-26 record along with an 18-7 MAAC slate. The Stags earned the second seed in the 2025 MAAC Championship, reaching the semifinals before they were knocked out.
