BRONX, N.Y. – The teams in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) know that the Stags have been dangerous late in games, tonight Atlantic-10 school Fordham had the firsthand account. The Stags scored four runs in the sixth inning to turn a three-run deficit into a one-run lead, and they led the rest of the way, eventually securing a 8-5 victory at Fordham.

Through the first five innings, the Stags (16-17) could not get anything going against Fordham's (19-19) starter Reiss Knehr who allowed just a first inning Kevin Radziewicz single in his five inning outing.

The Rams took advantage by jumping out to a 3-0 lead, capped by a two-run triple from the team's leading hitter Ryan McNally.

But then the bullpen door opened for Fordham and the Stags welcomed the new Rams pitcher by scoring four runs, three of those coming with two outs. Jake Salpietro launched a ground-rule double to score Radziewicz to get the Stags on the board. With two outs in the inning, Troy Scocca drew a walk to load the bases and Mitch Williams delivered yet another big hit, singling through the right side to score the two tying runs. Scocca would also score on the play by one of the two errors by the Rams in the inning.

The Stags added to their lead in the seventh with a Brendan Tracy ground-rule double down the right field line. Drew Arciuolo added a RBI single in the eighth after two runs scored on a throwing error that allowed Jack Gethings, the player who was sacrificing the runners over, to reach third.

Brendan Harkin earned his first career win as he needed just 17 pitches to get through 1.2 scoreless innings.

Aaron Howell was called on for the ninth inning and threw a perfect frame, as he continues to shine in his new role out of the pen. Howell has now finished three of the last four games for the Stags and has recorded two wins and a save.

The Stags will now look to get back to the .500 mark when they make the short trip to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard for a meeting with crosstown rival Sacred Heart on Wednesday at 3pm.
