FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Juniors Brad Orban and Megan Theiller have been named the Garden Catering Student-Athletes of the Month for their outstanding play on the court in October.
Theiller was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week in October, and as a co-captain has guided the volleyball team to 16 consecutive victories including a perfect 15-0 start to league play. The junior has a team-high 10 double-doubles this season for the Stags. In the past month, she posted an 18 kill, 11 dig day in a win against Canisius and more recently had a 21 kill performance at Manhattan. This upcoming weekend, the team continues conference play as they travel to Buffalo to face Canisius on Saturday and Niagara on Sunday.
Orban went 3-0 in singles play in dual matches at the No. 1 spot for the Stags. Against Rider, he earned a straight set victory and against Wagner and Hofstra won both of those matches in three sets. At the ITA Regional Championships, the junior earned a first round win over Hector Martinez of Saint Bonaventure (6-7, 6-1, 6-1). In the second round he faced the 17th seeded Kaoy from Buffalo and fell in straight sets. The tennis teams wrapped up their fall slate and will now look ahead and prepare for their spring season.
