EDISON, N.J. – At the conclusion of the 2025-26 winter season, Fairfield University Athletics leads the Richard J. Ensor, Esq. MAAC Commissioner's Cup standings in both the overall and women's sports categories. The Stags are vying for their third consecutive MAAC Commissioner's Cup.
In the conference's continuing efforts to recognize the achievements of its student-athletes, the Richard J. Ensor Esq. Commissioner's Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics in the 23 championship athletic events conducted within the MAAC. Each institution is scored in all championships that it fields a varsity team. However, only the scores from the men's and women's basketball participation, plus the other top six men's and other top six women's championships shall be used to determine an institution's total points.
On the overall ledger, Fairfield has garnered 129 points to lead both Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart by 21.5 points. The Stags are the MAAC's highest scoring team in five sports: Women's Basketball (Regular Season and Tournament Champion), Volleyball (Regular Season and Tournament Champion), Women's Soccer (Regular Season Champion), and both Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving (MAAC Champions).
In the race for the Women's Commissioner's Cup, the Stags have scored 83.5 points, leading Quinnipiac by 5.5 points and third-place Sacred Heart by 20.5 Fairfield has won the last four women's cups and five of the last six.
Entering the spring season, the Stags rank fourth on the men's ledger with 45.5 points. Siena tops that chart at 53.5 points followed by Iona with 50.5 points. To date, Fairfield has scored more points than they earned in the 2024-25 standings in all four men's sports to have completed their respective campaigns (Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer, and Swimming & Diving).
The standings do not reflect the success of Fairfield Field Hockey, which won the NEC Regular Season and Tournament Championship in addition to an NCAA postseason win in 2025 and will join the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) beginning in the fall of 2026.
In total, Fairfield has won six MAAC Commissioner's Cups, a conference-best 13 Women's Commissioner's Cups, and three Men's Commissioner's Cups.
