FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey team got back to their winning ways, grabbing a 4-1 victory over Siena in MAAC play on Sunday afternoon.

The Stags dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Saints 27-14 and gathering 15 penalty corners to Siena's nine.

Erin Buckley opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a score on a penalty stroke. Then in the 30th minute, Maclaine Matties passed to Hannah Pike for her fifth goal of the season. With a 2-0 lead, Fairfield headed into the halftime break.

The Saints got on the board in the 42nd minute when Nicole Miller found the back of the net for Siena's only goal and cut the lead to just one.

But the Stags responded and notched two more tallies before the final whistle. Ann Burgoyne scored in the 48th minute and broke a tie for the Fairfield career points record with 114 points in her illustrious four-year career.

Then on the final play of the game, Fairfield set up for a penalty corner with the clock at 0:00. Hannah Pike inserted the ball, Jaclyn Gallagher stopped it and Buckley fired away for the final goal of the game, bringing the score to 4-1.
