Stags Set to Conclude Regular Season at Quinnipiac

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team will finish its regular season slate this Wednesday, April 22 with a trip to nearby Quinnipiac. Opening draw in Hamden is slated for 3 p.m.

The Stags (11-4, 6-1 MAAC) have already clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship, earning a bye to the semifinal round. Fairfield will play an opponent to be determined on Friday, May 1 in Buffalo, N.Y. at top-seeded Canisius.

Most recently, the Stags traveled to Marist this past Saturday and picked up a 10-9 victory. Jenna Fuchs and Julieanne Mascera each registered a hat trick in the win, and Maeve Quinn distributed three assists. Fairfield also got single goals from Courtney Chmil, Alex Fehmel, Riley Hellstein and Colleen Reynolds.

Fehmel has posted 25 goals and 12 assists to amass 37 total points, leading the Stags in all three categories this spring. Mascera adds 24 markers en route to 30 points, and Quinn has racked up 14 goals and 10 assists.

In the midfield, Hellstein and Reynolds have each collected 30 draw controls. Meghan Reda solidifies the defensive effort with team highs of 38 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers as well as 20 draw controls. The majority of the time between the posts has gone to Chelsey Sidaras, who owns a 6.83 goals against average and .530 save percentage.

Quinnipiac (2-13, 1-6 MAAC) will wrap up its 2015 campaign on Wednesday. Kyra Ochwat leads the Bobcats offensively with 39 goals and 14 assists, followed by Kathleen DeVito (29g, 11a) and Kelly Babstock (19g, 14a).

Starting goalkeeper duties have belonged to Samantha Tilts, who has posted a 13.24 goals-against average and a .453 save percentage.

In addition to the MAAC slate, both Fairfield and Quinnipiac were defeated by Connecticut and Hofstra during the non-conference season. The Stags also earned a win at Central Connecticut State, while the Bobcats were bested by the Blue Devils.
