Kristen Filicia Named ECAC First Team All-Star

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Fairfield University's Kristen Filicia was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Softball All-Star First Team this afternoon.

The second baseman led the team in hitting with a .375 batting average, good for third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). She picked up a hit in 32 of her 42 appearances this year, including 12 games with two or more hits. She finished the regular season with nine doubles, four triples, two homers, and 19 RBI. She was also one of the hardest hitters to strikeout, fanning eight times in 120 at-bats.

Filicia garnered numerous awards during her senior campaign. She was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Northeast Second Team and to the All-MAAC First Team.

The Fairfield University softball team, under Head Coach Julie Brzezinski, finished the 2014 campaign with a 20-22 overall record and a 15-5 MAAC mark. The team advanced to the MAAC Softball Tournament as the number two seed.
