FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team received their highest national ranking in program history this morning with the release of the national polls. The Stags are currently ranked No. 11 in the nation in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the Inside Lacrosse Warrior Media Poll.
The Stags moved up two spots from last week in the USILA Poll and currently stand tied with Penn for 11th in the nation. It is the highest ranking ever for the Stags and the best since 2007 when they were tied for 12th in the USILA Poll.
Fairfield jumped up three spots in the Warrior Media Poll, coming in at No. 12. It is also Fairfield's highest ranking in that poll as well.
The Stags also sit upon the top of the NEILA Poll for the third consecutive week.
Fairfield has won a program-best seven straight games and stands at 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the ECAC Lacrosse League.
The Stags have three regular season games left on the slate beginning with an ECAC Lacrosse League contest at Air Force on April 12. Fairfield heads to Quinnipiac on April 15. The Stags close out the regular season on April 26 when they host Ohio State at Lessing Field. Fairfield heads to the 2014 ECAC Lacrosse League Championship, May 1-3, in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament will air live on Fox College Sports.
