Maurice Barrow scored 22 points and added six rebounds in his final home game of his career as the Fairfield University men's basketball team posted a 78-74 win over Marist College at Webster Bank Arena. Sophomore
Marcus Gilbert also netted 22 points for the Stags.
Freshman KJ Rose recorded the first double-double of his career with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Marist's Adam Kemp registered 20 points and 19 rebounds.
Four different Stags scored in the first four minutes of the game as the team opened an early 9-2 lead.

Marcus Gilbert netted the first of his five three-point field goals in the first half. The Red Foxes scored the next seven points to tie the game at 9-9 with Jay Bowie's three pointer knotting the score with 13:25 remaining.
Marcus Gilbert put his team back in front with a three-point field goal on the team's next possession, the first of three consecutive long-range baskets for the sophomore which turned the tied score into an 18-12 advantage with 11 minutes remaining. The run of three pointers continued when
Maurice Barrow scored on a 22-footer which Gilbert followed with another three pointer that allowed the Stags to double up the Red Foxes at 24-12 with 8:22 on the clock.
The Stags would continue to build on their lead, pushing their advantage to 21 points at 37-16 with 4:39 remaining. Marist managed to cut into the lead by halftime, entering the locker room down 40-25 when the buzzer sounded.
Fairfield added four more points to its lead just a couple minutes into the second half, holding a 48-29 lead. Marist went on a 15-7 run over the next four minutes to pull within 11 points at 55-44 with 13 minutes remaining. The Stags tacked on three points after
Amadou Sidibe posted a pair of free throws and Gilbert made one of two charity tosses, making it a 58-44 game.
The Stags lead remained at 14 points with just under seven minutes to go at 65-51. Marist cut heavily into the lead over the next four minutes, pulling within five points at 71-66 with 1:15 remaining. Fairfield pushed the lead back to seven points when Barrow laid the ball in the basket with one minute remaining. Marist would come as close as 77-74 with 10 seconds remaining, but Barrow's two free throws on the next possession ended Marist's chances for the comeback win.
