Fairfield, winners of six of its last seven games, will play its final Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series of the year at Canisius College, May 16-17. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday followed by the season finale on Friday. First pitch on both days is slated for 12pm.

Fairfield (18-28; 9-12 MAAC) vs. Canisius (38-13; 14-7 MAAC): The Stags and the Griffs will meet for the first time since their MAAC Tournament match-up last season. The two teams split all four meetings last season. After enduring a 5-2 loss in the opener, the Stags posted a 4-0 win behind a four-hit, nine-strikeout, complete game effort by
Scott Warwick. In the series finale, the Stags posted a 7-3 victory. Canisius took the final meeting of the year by edging Fairfield, 2-1, in the first round of the MAAC Tournament. In nine career games,
Anthony Hajjar is batting .323 (10-for-31) with five runs and five RBI against Canisius. Fairfield is 24-22 all-time against Canisius, yet the Griffs have taken 14 of the last 19 meetings.
A Look at the Griffs: Canisius has won four-straight games and six of its last seven entering Thursday's contest. After sweeping Niagara last weekend to earn a MAAC Tournament berth, the Griffs edged Youngstown State, 5-3, in Ohio on Tuesday. Five Griffs are batting over .300 this season with Jimmy Luppens leading the way with a .374 average and 44 RBI. Jesse Kelso is next with a .331 batting average, 31 walks, 43 runs scored, and 34 driven in. As a pitching staff, Canisius has a collective 3.84 ERA with 320 strikeouts. Garrett Cortright is 10-2 for the Griffs with a 1.98 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 95.2 innings of work this season. Rookie Alex Godzak has a 2.07 ERA with and 59 strikeouts in 69.2 innings. Reliever Jon Fitzsimmons has a microscopic 0.35 ERA this season with nine saves.
