MERCER LAKE, N.J. -- The Fairfield University men's rowing team placed fourth in the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rowing championship, scoring 109 points over seven events. Marist College won the team title with 150 points, one more than runner up Jacksonville University.
The first event of the day involved the varsity 8 in which the Stags placed fourth with a time of 6:58.15. Jacksonville won the race by completing the course in 6:21.26, barely edging Marist's time of 6:21.80. The Stags boat was comprised of

Cameron Bowen, Phil Falco, Sam Sullivan,
Cameron Shalkowski, and coxswain
Shannon Dermody.
Next up was the novice 8 which ended with Fairfield securing third place with a time of 6:52.61. Jacksonville (6:29.30) once again edged Marist for the top spot. The novice 8 included
Chris Calitri, Kier Kaiser, Charles Serpa, Bobby Lawler,
John Driscoll,
George Bellos,
Lev Macht-Greenberg, Ed Nilan, and coxswain
Meaghan Kirby.
The varsity 4 secured Fairfield's top finish of the day when it took second place, crossing the line in 7:04.22. Marist was the only program to break the seven-minute mark (6:57.90) to win the race. The Stags entry consisted of

Trent Domingos.
The novice 4 followed up with a third-place finish behind Jacksonville (7:01.22) and Marist (7:03.30).

Olivia Vita ran the course in 7:13.88. The men's junior varsity four also secured a third-place finish with a time of 7:32.91. Jacksonville won the race in 6:59.61 while Marist placed second in 7:08.82. The Stags boat included Sam Sullivan,
Cameron Shalkowski, Jake Offerman, Rob Preli, and coxswain
Shannon Dermody.
The men's pair collected a fourth-place finish by navigating the course in 7:49.90 as Marist (7:21.30) and Jacksonville (7:27.60) taking the top two spots.
Cameron Bowen and Phil Falco occupied the Stags boat for this event. The men's second varsity 8 tallied a third-place run by crossing the line in 6:43.14 behind the efforts of
Chris Calitri, Kier Kaiser, Charles Serpa, Bobby Lawler, Sam Sullivan,
Cameron Shalkowski, Jake Offerman, Rob Preli, and coxswain
Olivia Vita.
