Fairfield returns to action on April 3 with a non-league game against NJIT at 4pm at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

Fairfield (8-14) vs. NJIT (7-14): The Stags and the Highlanders have met just once before with that game coming last season on May 14. The Stags unleashed their offense on NJIT last season downing the Highlanders, 19-4, at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Every Stag in the starting line-up had at least one hit on the day and all but one scored at least one run for their highest offensive output of the season.
Rob LoPinto went 4-for-6 on the day with two doubles, four RBI, and four runs scored while
Anthony Hajjar went 4-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, five RBI and two runs scored.
Ryan Plourde went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Dean Sadik went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI while
Mike Bennett went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
A Look at NJIT: The Highlanders were last in action on March 30, splitting a doubleheader with UMass. After dropping the opener, 10-4, NJIT pulled out a 7-6 victory in 11 innings. Ed Charlton leads NJIT with a .265 batting average, 16 runs scored, and 12 RBI. He has also stole six bases in seven attempts. Mike Rampone has driven in 11 runs. The Highlanders and the Stags share a common opponent in Rider with the Broncs taking two out of three games in that series.
Still Going: Junior
Ryan Plourde has reached base in all 22 games this season and currently has a 14-game hitting streak. The longest hitting streak by a Stag is 18 games which was accomplished by both Ryan Bittner in 2000 and Mike Svab in 1990.
Fairfield Among the MAAC Leaders: As a team, Fairfield is fifth in the MAAC in batting (.253) and leads the league in fielding percentage (.968). Individually,
Anthony Hajjar is second in doubles (7) while
Jack Giannini is fifth in hits (31).
Looking Ahead: Fairfield will play its next four games at home, hosting Saint Peter's, April 6-7, and Yale University on April 10 at Alumni Diamond.
