Bucknell Rallies Late To Upend Baseball 5-1

Box Score

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -
Sophomore Jeremy Soule took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, but Bucknell University rallied late to upend Fairfield University, 5-1, tonight at Chain of Lakes Stadium.

Soule was nearly untouchable in his first six innings of work, allowing just four base runners in that span.

In the top of the seventh, Bucknell's first two batters of the inning were able to reach. Anthony Gingerelli drove them both in with a single to give the Bison a 2-1 lead. Bucknell (3-9) would score three times in the top of the ninth inning en route to the win.

Fairfield (3-6) had taken an early 1-0 lead on a two-out RBI double by Ryan Plourde in the first inning which scored Jack Giannini. That would be the lone run until the seventh inning as both pitchers shut down offense.

Soule (0-3) was charged with the loss after allowing two runs in 7.0 innings of work. He threw 87 pitches on the night, 53 of which were for strikes. Bucknell's Daniel Goldstein (2-2) went 8.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and six walks in the win.

Fairfield returns to action on March 13 when it faces Indiana University in Winter Haven, Fla. Fans can Listen Live to Indiana's broadcast of the game.
