Day Three Results

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out the season with some top performances at the  2013  Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College.
 
In the men's 100y freestyle, sophomore Tyler Conley placed fifth overall with a time of 46.01 seconds while senior Paul Bimmler placed 10th with a personal best of 46.99 seconds. In the prelims this morning, Conley broke his own school in the event by recording a time of 45.87 seconds.
 
Rookie Connor Daly placed fifth overall in the men's 200y butterfly by setting the school record for the second time today. In the finals, Daly clocked a time of 1:53.41 for his third record of the MAAC Championships. In the prelims this morning, Daly initially broke the program standard with a time of 1:54.13.
 
In the women's 200y breaststroke, junior Suzy Lawlor placed fourth overall while junior Emily Pedrick placed 14th overall. Lawlor recorded a personal best of 2:25.38 while Pedrick also had a personal best with a time of 2:31.79; both were ECAC-qualifying times.

In the women's 1650y freestyle, sophomore Meredith LaBerge placed fifth overall and broke the program record by clocking a time of 17:35.32. She broke the mark of 17:36.23 set by Margaret Osmulski last season. Sophomore Alyssa Acompora placed 15th overall with an ECAC-qualifying personal best of 18:08.76 while Osmulski placed 16th (18:11.15) and Kate Ansani placed 18th overall with a personal best of 18:25.30.
 
In the men's 1650y freestyle, Kevin Greener placed 12th overall with a time of 16:38.55. Freshmen Andrew Robinson and Nick Cannone placed 14th and 18th, respectively, by recording ECAC-qualifying personal bests. Robinson touched in 16:42.51 while Cannone clocked a 16:58.28.
 
Freshman Kelly Mulligan placed 14th overall in the women's 200y backstroke after posting a time of 2:10.70.
 
In the men's 1-meter diving, Will Sullivan placed ninth overall with personal best of 232.25. Evan Barr placed 11th with a score of 224.55 while senior Ryan Krebs recorded a 208.80 to finish in 12th place. Brien Bates posted a score of 182.30 to finish 15th while Joe Dowling placed 16th with a mark of 171.90.
 
The women's 400y freestyle relay of freshman Liz Avery, sophomore Meghan Weiser, senior Cacky Keating, and Osmulski posted an ECAC qualifying time of 3:39.07.
 
The men's 400y freestyle of Conley, Cody Parker, Jay Cook, and Bimmler clocked an ECAC-qualifying time of 3:09.63.
 
The Fairfield men's team placed seventh overall while Rider University was crowned as champions. On the women's side, the Stags placed eighth overall while Marist College won the team title. For complete event information, final standings, and more, visit MAAC Championship Central.

Saturday's Prelims
In the prelims of the 200y butterfly, senior Cacky Keating just missed the cut, finishing with a time of 2:15.54. Megan Kuzniewski stopped the clock in 2:19.94.

In the prelims of women's 200y back the Stags each posted ECAC-qualifying times: Kayla Kuzniewski (2:12.81), Bridget McGowan (2:14.09), and Lisa Tkach (2:20.93).

In the prelims of the women's 100y freestyle, Liz Avery just missed the cut despite posting a time of 54.74 seconds. Meghan Weiser finished in 55.40 seconds and was followed by Michelle Pleban (55.86) and Jaimee Carrazza (57.48). Each swimmer qualified for ECACs.

Danielle Latino had a time of 2:41.65 in the prelims of the women's 200y breaststroke,

In the prelims of the men's 200y back, Chris Weaver had a time of 2:04.13 while Kyle Rozanitis finished in 2:08.79.

In the prelims of the 100y freestyle, Jay Cook had a time of 48.28 seconds while Shane Sullivan finished in 50.20 seconds.
