Four More Records Fall During Second Day of MAAC S



Day Two Results

BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Four more program records fell as the Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued action at the 2013  Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College tonight.
 
Junior Suzy Lawlor placed third in the women's 100y breaststroke by breaking her own program record for the second time today. Lawlor posted a time of 1:05.86 to take bronze in a very tight race. Kerry Dodenhoff of Iona College posted a winning time of 1:04.85 while Alexandra Sison of Saint Peter's University touched in 1:05.54.
 
In the men's 400y individual medley, freshman Connor Daly placed fourth overall in record-setting fashion. Daly, who broke his second program record in as many days, touched in 4:05.08 to eclipse the previous standard of 4:06.38 set by Drew Kingman in 2008.
 
Sophomore Tyler Conley won the consolation final men's 200y freestyle while smashing a 22-year-old program record in the process. Conley posted a time of 1:42.26 to break the school record of 1:43.00 set in February 1991 by Jim Turney.
 
The men's 800y freestyle relay of Cody Parker, Jay Cook, senior Paul Bimmlerand Conley set a program record by clocking a 7:00.34. The quartet bested the mark of 7:04.73 set last season at the MAAC Championships.

Sophomore diver Ashlee Steinberger placed third on the women's 3-meter with a score of 219.90. Sophomore Lauren Kemple placed 10th overall with a score of 204.99 while freshman Demi Marathas finished 13th overall with a mark of 172.60 on the 3-meter.
 
In the women's 400y individual medley, junior Margaret Osmulski placed fourth overall with a time of 4:40.56. Freshman Kelly Mulligan placed 10th overall in the women's 100y backstroke after posting a personal best of 59.53 seconds. Senior Cacky Keating finished 16th overall in the women's 100y butterfly with a time of 1:00.36.
 
Sophomore Meredith LaBerge placed eighth overall in the women's 1000y freestyle after clocking a personal best of 10:31.62. Sophomore Alyssa Acompora placed 14th overall with a personal best of 10:44.62. Both were ECAC-qualifying times. Megan Kuzniewski posted a time of 11:11.62 while Katherine Kraus had a time of 11:22.43, a personal best.
 
Junior Kevin Greener placed 10th in the men's 1000y freestyle with a personal best of 9:48.22 while freshman Andrew Robinson placed 14th with a personal best of 9:57.98, both qualifying marks for ECACs. Nick Cannone had a personal best of 10:19.65 while Brett Borgognone finished in 10:31.73.
 
The women's 200y medley relay of Mulligan, Lawlor, Keating and Liz Avery placed sixth with a time of 1:49.34. The women's 800y freestyle relay of Osmulski, Kate Ansani, Acompora, and Avery posted a time of 7:55.53. The men's 200y medley relay of Chris Weaver, Rich Straub, Daly, and Cook had a time of 1:38.71.
 
At the end of two days of competition and 30 events, both the Fairfield men's and women's teams stand in seventh place.

Friday's Prelims
In the prelims of the women's 400y IM, Bridget McGowan had a time of 4:55.94 while Danielle Latino finished in 5:00.11. McGowan just missed the cut in the 100y backstroke prelims, stopping the clock in 1:00.99, good for a personal best. Also competing in the 100y back was Jaimee Carrazza (1:02.49), Kayla Kuzniewski (1:03.19), and Lisa Tkach (1:04.31) who each recorded personal bests.
 
In the 100y butterfly, Megan Kuzniewski and Kayla Kuzniewski each posted personal bests with Megan clocking a 1:02.98 and Kayla recording a 1:05.37.
 
Rookie Kate Ansani just missed the cut of the women's 200y freestyle, finishing with a personal best and ECAC-qualifying time of 1:58.91. Liz Avery had a time of 2:00.95 while Megan Weiser (2:01.87) and Michelle Pleban (2:03.11) each had personal bests. Katherine Kraus had a time of 2:03.90.
 
In the women's 200y breaststroke prelims, Emily Pedrick had an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:10.09 while Danielle Latino finished in 1:14.74; both were personal bests.
 
In the 200y freestyle, Jay Cook just missed the cut, despite a personal best and ECAC-qualifying time of 1:45.35. Cody Parker (1:46.92) and Shane Sullivan (1:50.81) also had personal bests in the event.
 
In the prelims of the men's 100y backstroke, Paul Bimmler posted an ECAC-qualifying time of 54.25 seconds. Chris Weaver (55.35) and Kyle Rozanitis (57.98) had personal bests. Weaver also clocked a time of 4:28.51 in the 400y IM prelims.
 
Brett Borgognone had an ECAC-qualifying time of 53.89 seconds in the prelims of the men's 100y butterfly. In the prelims of the men's 100y breaststroke, Rich Straub had an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:02.04 while Kevin Kett finished in 1:04.04.
