OLEAN, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, falling at St. Bonaventure University, 74-59, this afternoon on Bob Lanier Court at the Reilly Center.

Katie Cizynski and sophomore
Kristin Schatzlein each posted 11 points for Fairfield (2-1). Cizynski added five rebounds while Schatzlein dished out four assists and went 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-6 from long range.

Casey Grace netted a career-high nine points while
Brittany Obi-Tabot posted nine points and four boards. Senior
Alexys Vazquez had eight points. Junior Felicia DaCruz dished out eight assists along with three points.
St. Bonaventure (3-1) got off to a hot start, taking a 7-0 lead in the first 2:20 of play. Cizynski put the Stags on the board at the 17:15 mark with a three-pointer from the top of the arc. The Bonnies countered with a 6-0 run to make it a 13-3 advantage with 14 minutes left in the half. Fairfield whittled the deficit to single digits, 19-12, on a three-pointer by Schatzlein at the 11-minute mark. St. Bonaventure returned the lead to double figures, opening up a 29-16 lead after a successful three-point play by Katie Healy at 8:22.
A pair of free throws and a lay-up by Grace pulled the Stags within 29-20 at 6:52. A jumper by
Kelsey Carey less than a minute later made it a 29-22 contest with six minutes left. A free throw by Emily Michael at 4:19 broke the Bonnies' four-minute scoring drought. With 2:27 left in the half, Vazquez drained a three-pointer from way downtown to cut it to five points. Just 21 seconds later, Obi-Tabot picked off a pass and took it in for the easy lay-up to make the score 32-29. St. Bonaventure's Chelsea Bowker nailed her fifth three-pointer of the half and then hit a pair of free throws with 57.5 seconds left to extend the Bonnies lead to 37-29.
With 16.5 ticks on the clock, Carey stuck in a lay-up while Vazquez was fouled away from the ball. The bucket counted and Vazquez converted the one-and-one to make the score 38-33. In the closing seconds of the half, sophomore
Lizzy Ball stole the ball on the defensive end and fed a streaking
Christelle Akon-Akech for the lay-up at time expired. Despite the 6-0 run, Fairfield trailed St. Bonaventure, 38-35, at the break.
St. Bonaventure began the second half with a 9-2 run as Gabby Richmond accounted for all of the nine of the Bonnies' points. Hannah Little added back-to-back baskets for the Bonnies to extend their lead to 51-38 at the 14-minute mark. The Stags once again cut the deficit to single digits, pulling within 61-52 on a jump hook by Cizynski with just under six minutes left to play. The Bonnies were able to fend off the Stags for the 79-54 victory.
Carey finished with finished with four points.
St. Bonaventure shot 59.1 percent from the floor while Fairfield shot 46.8 percent. The Bonnies outrebounded the Stags, 29-18.
Fairfield returns home for the first time this season as it hosts Lehigh University on November 21 at 7pm in Alumni Hall. Thursday will be Stags and Grocery Bags night at Alumni Hall and any fan that donates at least two non-perishable items will receive a $1 ticket.
