Baseball Hosts Fordham On Tuesday

Fairfield begins its first extended home stand on Tuesday, April 3 against Fordham at 3:30pm on Alumni Diamond.

Fairfield (10-17; 2-4 MAAC) vs. Fordham (11-17; 3-3 Atlantic-10): The Stags and the Rams met in the Bronx back on February 28 where Fordham pulled out a 5-3 victory. Senior Larry Cornelia went 3-for-4 in that game with two runs scored and two stolen bases for Fairfield. Fairfield is 22-26 all-time against Fordham.

A Look at Fordham: Fordham is coming off a series win over St. Bonaventure last weekend, including a 6-3 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Rams have won four of their last six games, including extra-inning wins over St. Bonaventure and UMass. Senior Ryan Maghini is hitting .288 with a team-high 16 RBI and 15 runs scored. On the hill, reliever Jeremy Adel leads the Rams with a 1.93 ERA and has forged a 2-1 record with three saves in 12 appearances.

Fairfield Among the MAAC Leaders: The Stags pitching staff is second in the MAAC with a 4.54 ERA with opponents hitting just .275 against Fairfield. The Stags are also second in the MAAC in strikeouts with 169, four behind MAAC-leading Canisius. Individually, senior Scott Warwick is fourth in the league with a 3.62 ERA. Offensively, Fairfield is fourth in runs scored (122) and RBI (113) and fifth in hits (221).  Senior Larry Cornelia is fourth in hits (34) while senior Tyler Wosleger is fifth in batting average (.351) and fifth in on-base percentage (.481).

Looking Ahead: Fairfield resumes MAAC play over the weekend playing host to Rider University. The two teams will play a doubleheader on April 7 beginning at 12pm. After breaking for Easter, the Stags and the Broncs will finish up the series on Monday, April 9.
