Men's Basketball Hosts Saint Peter's In Home Final

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team plays its final home game of the 2011-12 season, hosting Saint Peter's College on Wednesday night. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm. The program will also honor the senior class before contest with the ceremony scheduled for approximately 7:20 pm.

The Stags bring a season-long five-game winning streak into Wednesday night's game which was extended following a 68-51 win at Loyola University. Four Stags reached double figures in the game, led by Rakim Sanders with 13 points. Maurice Barrow finished the game with a double-double, registering 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Greyhounds.

Sanders, who averaged 17.5 points per game in two wins last week, raised his scoring average to 16.6 points per game which ranks first among his teammates and fifth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Derek Needham is the only other Stag in double figures with 12.2 points per game, placing 19th in the MAAC.

Following this game, the Stags will play its final four regular-season games on the road, beginning with a non-conference match up against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon. The team returns for three conference games, heading to Marist on February 20, Iona on February 24, and Rider on February 26.

Saint Peter's opens the week with a 5-21 overall record and a 4-11 MAAC mark, coming off a three-game homestand that included match ups with Loyola, Marist, and Manhattan. In their last outing, the Peacocks came up short against Manhattan, falling to the Jaspers by an 85-63 count.

Darius Conley is the team's top scorer and rebounder, netting 11.2 points and  securing 7.5 caroms per game. Chris Prescott is next in line with 11.0 points every forty minutes. He represents the team's top three-point threat, recording 56 three pointers in 26 games. Yvon Raymond owns a team-best .470 field goal percentage and also ranks first among his teammates with 50 assists.
