EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped up action at the 2012 ECAC Season Warm-Up Open Championships this afternoon at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. The men's team placed fourth overall while the women's team finished in fifth place.
Sophomore
Meredith LaBerge placed fourth in the 500y freestyle with a time of 5:12.76 while sophomore
Ariel Bond finished sixth with a personal best of 5:14.19. Senior
Cacky Keating placed 12th with a personal best of 5:20.81.
Several other Stags posted personal bests in the 500y free including
Alyssa Acompora (5:25.60),
Kate Ansani (5:28.63),
Megan Kuzniewski (5:31.45), and
Katherine Kraus (5:34.65).
Junior
Margaret Osmulski tied for fifth place in the 50y freestyle with a personal best of 24.90 seconds. Freshman
Liz Avery had a personal best of 25.50 seconds and was followed by junior
Suzy Lawlor in 25.86 seconds,
Michelle Pleban in 26.00 seconds, and
Emily Pedrick in 26.28 seconds.
Freshman
Kelly Mulligan finished 10th in the 200y IM with a personal best of 2:14.88. Junior
Bridget McGowan finished in 2:22.03 while freshmen
Jaimee Carrazza and
Danielle Latino finished in 2:22.96 and 2:28.55, respectively.
The 400y medley relay of Mulligan, Lawlor, Keating, and Osmulski took fifth with a time of 4:04.03. The 400y freestyle relay of Mulligan, Keating, Osmulski, and Avery finished fifth with a time of 3:43.94.
On the men's side, sophomore
Tyler Conley placed fifth in the 50y free with a time of 21.49 seconds. Senior
Paul Bimmler finished in 22.45 seconds, while sophomore
Jay Cook had a personal best of 22.95 seconds. Freshman
Shane Sullivan recorded a time of 23.99 seconds.
In the 500y freestyle, junior
Cody Parker finished 10th overall with a time of 4:54.16. Junior
Kevin Greener registered a time of 4:55.83 while
Connor Daly had a time of 4:56.39. Freshman
Andrew Robinson finished in 4:59.73 while Cook posted a 5:08.41. Junior
Rich Straub had a time of 5:12.01 while freshman
Nick Cannone notched a personal best of 5:13.31.
In the 200y IM, sophomore
Chris Weaver had a time of 2:09.68 while junior
Kyle Rozanitis set a personal best of 2:11.82.
The 400y medley relay of Bimmler, Straub, Daly, and Conley finished fifth with a time of 3:41.19. The 400y freestyle relay of Daly, Parker, Straub, and Conley had a time of 3:17.86.
Fairfield has concluded the first half of its schedule. The Stags will head to Hawaii for their annual winter training trip, January 12-20. The Stags resume dual meet action on January 26 at Iona College and conclude it at home on February 2 against NJIT. The 2012-13 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 14-16 in Buffalo, N.Y.
