EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team had a solid day of competition at the 2012 ECAC Season Warm-Up Open Championships at the Nassau County Aquatics Center. Numerous Stags turned in some of the top performances and set personal bests throughout the day.
Senior
Cacky Keating finished fourth in the 200y butterfly, clocking a time of 2:12.99, and placed 10th in the 100y butterfly with a time of 59.80 seconds. Sophomore
Ariel Bond placed fourth in the 200y freestyle with a time of 1:57.48. Sophomore
Meredith LaBerge placed eighth overall in the 1650y freestyle with a time of 17:46.18 touching out Bond who finished ninth in 17:46.18.
Junior
Suzy Lawlor took fifth in the 100y breaststroke with a time of 1:07.84 and finished fourth in the 200y breaststroke with a personal best of 2:26.08.
Keating, LaBerge, Bond and
Margaret Osmulski teamed up in the 800y freestyle relay to record a time of 7:56.40 good for fourth overall. The 200y freestyle relay of
Kelly Mulligan, Keating,
Liz Avery, and Osmulski posted a time of 1:42.87.
Mulligan placed eighth in the 200y backstroke with a personal best of 2:11.91, finished 11th in the 400y IM (4:49.26), and took 13th in the 100y back (1:02.00). Osmulski placed eighth in the 400y IM (4:44.38) and finished 10th overall in the 100y freestyle with a personal best of 54.56 seconds.
In the 1650y free, Osmulski had a time of 18:00.73 while
Alyssa Acompora finished in 18:19.38, good for a personal best. Freshman
Kate Ansani swam an 18:52.20 while sophomore
Katherine Kraus finished in 19:13.41.
On the boards, sophomore
Ashlee Steinberger had a strong outing. She posted a score of 232.20 on the 1-meter to finish first out of the Division I competitors doing six dives. On the 3-meter, Steinberger had a mark of 229.35 to place first among the DI competitors. Freshman
Demi Marathas had a personal bests on both boards, recording a 207.40 on the 1-meter and a mark of 178.80 on the 3-meter. Sophomore
Lauren Kemple had a score of 201.95 on the 1-meter and a score of 164.40 on the 3-meter.
In the 200y back, junior
Bridget McGowan finished 11th with a time of 2:14.78 while freshmen
Kayla Kuzniewski and
Jaimee Carrazza finished in 2:16.36 (13th) and 2:16.60 (14th), respectively.
In the 100y free, Avery set a personal best with a time of 55.57 seconds while freshman
Michelle Pleban finished in 57.10 seconds. In the 200y free, LaBerge had a personal best of 2:01.61 and was followed by Acompora (2:02.52), Ansani (2:03.02), and Pleban (2:06.25).
In the 100y back, McGown had a time of 1:02.79 while Carrazza and Kuzniewski had personal bests of 1:03.06 and 1:04.72, respectively. Junior
Megan Kuzniewski posted a time of 2:21.34 in the 200y fly. In the 100y fly, the elder Kuzniewski sister, Megan, had a personal best of 1:03.76 while the younger Kuzniewski, Kayla, had a personal best of 1:06.40.
In the 200y breaststroke,
Emily Pedrick posted a personal best of 2:32.20 while
Danielle Latino set a new personal best of 2:44.66. In the 100y breaststroke, Pedrick finished in 1:11.20 while Latino clocked a 1:17.48.
After two days of action, the Stags stand in fifth place overall. Fairfield finishes up competition at the ECAC Warm-Up Open Championships on Sunday. Live results are available by
