FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team forged a 126-89 victory against Manhattan College this afternoon at the Rec Plex. The Stags notched eight first-place finishes and set numerous personal bests on the day.
In the diving events, sophomore
Lauren Kemple posted the Stags' top finishes. She won the 1-meter by tying a personal best with a score of 203.55. Kemple then posted a personal best on the 3-meter with a mark of 204.98. Freshman
Demi Marathas recorded personal bests on both boards, notching a score of 187.13 on the 1-meter and a score of 171.30 on the 3-meter.
Sophomore
Meredith LaBerge captured the 800m freestyle with a time of 9:36.07 while sophomore
Alyssa Acompora was second with a time of 9:48.20.
Fairfield took the top three spots in the 200m freestyle. Freshman
Kate Ansani posted a time of 2:17.06 while sophomore
Katherine Kraus had a time of 2:21.53 to finish as the runner-up. Freshman
Michelle Pleban came in third with a time of 2:22.89.
The Stags also took the top three spots in the 50m freestyle. Freshman
Liz Avery posted a winning time of 28.39 seconds while junior
Suzy Lawlor touched in 28.82 seconds. Senior
Cacky Keating took third in 28.84 seconds.
In the 100m freestyle, the Stags took the top three spots with Freshman
Kelly Mulligan notching a winning time of 1:01.44. Avery was second in 1:02.46 while
Meghan Weiser was third with a personal best of 1:04.94.
Fairfield took the top two spots in the 100m backstroke as freshman
Jaimee Carrazza posted a winning time of 1:11.28 while
Bridget McGowan was second in a time of 1:14.37.
The Stags took the top three spots in the 400m freestyle with Acompora notching a winning time of 4:46.83. Ansani was the runner-up in 4:50.84 while
Emily Pedrick was third in 4:58.30.
In the 100m breaststroke, Lawlor posted a time of 1:16.77, just .03 off of the program record. Freshman
Danielle Latino placed second in the 200m IM with a time of 2:40.20. Freshman
Kayla Kuzniewski was the runner-up in the 100m fly with a personal best of 1:13.50.
The Stags started the day by capturing the 200m medley relay. The quartet of Mulligan, Lawlor, Keating, and Avery had a time of 2:06.67. In the 200m freestyle relay, Mulligan, Pleban, Carrazza, and Kraus had a time of 2:57.16 while the team of Weiser, McGowan, Kuzniewski, and
Lisa Tkach finished in 2:00.21.
Fairfield (2-1; 1-0 MAAC) returns to action on October 26 when Fordham visits the RecPlex at 5pm.
