Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Fairfield University men's soccer team battled 19th-ranked Brown University to a 0-0 draw on the road, keeping the Stags at .500 with a 4-4-1 record. The Bears finished the match with an 8-1-1 overall mark.
Goalkeeper
Michael O'Keeffe reached double digits for saves with 10 which helped the senior record his second straight shutout. O'Keeffe, who earned the MAAC defensive player of the week on Monday, faced 15 second-half shots and cleanly handled all four attempts that were on target. He made seven saves in regulation to keep the game scoreless. Brown applied more pressure in the first overtime as three of its four shots were on goal, which O'Keeffe turned aside to add to his save total.
The Stags also mounted pressure during the game with nine shots, but only two were on goal. Brown goalkeeper Sam Kernan-Schloss was equal to the pressure in his 110 minutes of work.
Jon Clements took three of the team's shots, while
Jordan Ayris and
Reco McLaren added two attempts as well. Clements and Ayris each put a shot on goal in the game.
Fairfield opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play beginning on Saturday with a road game against Iona College. The game will be the first of three conference road games to start the slate.
