Biography

2010: O’Keeffe earned All-MAAC honors for the second straight season, earning a berth to the kept his consecutive starts streak intact by getting the nod in all 18 contests during 2010, which improved his streak to 36 games. The goalkeeper played every minute of every game, registering 1,691 minutes between the posts. He posted five shutouts, including back-to-back scoreless ties against Massachusetts and Boston College at home. He also produced a clean sheet against Niagara, Loyola, and Rider in conference play. O’Keeffe tallied five more saves in seven outings, highlighted by a season-high nine saves in a 1-0 setback against New Hampshire. He picked up another seven saves in a shutout of Loyola late in the season. He averaged 4.2 saves per game, collecting 82 stops in 18 games. He received two MAAC Defensive Player of the Week awards (September 13 and 20), giving him five for his career. His first award came after shutting out Massachusetts and helping the team post a 2-1 overtime win against Yale. One week later, he gathered the honor once again after shutting down 13th-ranked Boston College in a 0-0 draw and allowing just one goal against Northeastern. For the season, O’Keeffe owned a 1.01 goals against average with a .812 save percentage.

2009: O’Keeffe moved into the starting goalkeeper position as a freshman and started every game. The goalkeeper earned a spot on the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) first team as well as he MAAC All-Rookie squad. He picked up his first career win in his third start, a 2-1 win over Albany in which he posted seven saves. The rookie would that save total three more times, securing seven stops against New Hampshire, Marist, and Saint Peter’s. He captured three MAAC rookie of the week awards, winning it on November 2, October 5, and September 14. O’Keefe registered four shutouts and two combined shutouts during the season, and post back-to-back shutouts twice. He did allow a goal at Northeastern (Sept. 22) and at St. Francis (Sept. 26), as well as Saint Peter’s (Oct. 23) and Manhattan (Oct. 25). He averaged nearly five saves per game through his six shutouts. He recorded five or more saves in nine of his 18 appearances. He allowed only three goals in the final 488 minutes of the regular season, all of which came against Niagara University on November 6.  He allowed one goal or less in 11 of the team’s 18 games.

Before Fairfield: O’Keeffe will be one of the top prospects in the Fairfield goal this season, looking to challenge for the number one spot at the start of the season. He was highly successful as a goalkeeper at Christchurch Boys High School, where he led the program to several winning seasons. In addition to his play with Christchurch Boys, O’Keeffe gained international experience as a member of the New Zealand Under-15 and Under-17 squads.  He also played for New Zealand’s Under-17 World Cup team, and served his teammates as a captain during his stay with the team.
