Capital One Academic All-District Teams (pdf)
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University senior Chris Horning has earned Capital One Academic All-District 1 honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the third straight season.
Horning was named to the 2011 All-District 1 Second Team for his excellence in the classroom. He earned Second Team honors as a sophomore and garnered a spot on the First Team as a junior. Horning, a finance and economics major, is also a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team and a two-time MAAC Academic Honor Roll selection.
On the field, Horning has been the Stags starting catcher for the last three seasons, starting 117 of 120 games played. This season, Horning is hitting .244 with a team-high 14 doubles and 14 runs scored over 35 games.
Fairfield (16-22; 7-8 MAAC) is in action this weekend when league foe Iona College visits Alumni Diamond, May 7-8.
