FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University rowing teams will head to Philadelphia for the 2011 Dad Vail Regatta which takes place on the Schuylkill River beginning on Friday, May 13. Fans can watch the preliminary and semifinal races on
www.dadvail.tv while the finals will be streamed world wide on
ESPN3.
Both the Fairfield men's and women's rowing teams will have multiple entries in the regatta. The women's team will compete in the varsity pair, the varsity four, and the novice four.
Krissi Gorsuch and
Jessica Keefe will comprise the pair, while
Molly Graffam,
Bridget Butterworth,
Genevieve Bleidner,
Kim Beatty, and coxswain
Julia Merenda will compete in the varsity four. The novice four entry will include Margaret McHGohey,
Lorena Gullotta,
Avery Adams, Liz Kavanagh, and coxswain
Alison Bishop.
The men's team will enter two boats into the regatta, namely varsity pair and novice eight.
Matt McNeill and
Ben Andrews will continue to team up in the pair, a duo which has enjoyed success throughout the season. The novice eight consists of
Brendan Spearing,
Phillip Falco, Jerry Vissers, Sal Caiola,
Marco Raffaelli, Eddie Weiner, Jimmy Fusco,
Collin Galbato, and coxswain
Ricky Solano.
The Stags are coming off a very successful weekend at the Spring Metropolitan Championship where the two teams combined for the overall championship. Fairfield also won the women's championship at the event.
The ESPN3.com broadcast of the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta finals will include two camera boats catching the action from the Schuylkill River. Seven wired cameras, two wireless cameras in the stands and four 40-to 80-foot booms equipped with cameras will capture the races from every angle possible.
