FAIRFIELD, Conn, -- The Fairfield University rowing teams headed south to compete at the Head of the Schuylkill with each team coming away with two top 10 finishes in the event.
The women's team performance included a sixth-place finish by the novice 4 while the Stags secured 10
th place in the championship eight event. The four completed the course in 15:27.75 and was comprised by Jill Segal, Sophie Counts, Clair Jennings, Ava Gonnella, and coxswain Leah Murphy. The eight timed out in 12:59.24 behind the efforts of Kelly Cullen, Shawn O'Brien, Nora O'Connell, Grace McDonough, Victoria Conrad, Zuzanna Janusz, Audrey DiMartino, Molly Squire, and coxswain Lexi Tomlinson.
On the men's side, the freshman 4 garnered a third place finish with a time of 13:07.83. The crew included

Sean Rhatigan,
Luca Mellado, and coxswain
Max Cona. In the club championship 8, Fairfield's first varsity squad crossed the line in 11:57.97 for fourth place overall with
Zalan Kovacs, Will Talay, Anthony Tapini,

Luke Youngblood, Luca Terracone, Grant Retelny,
Braeden Gibbons, and coxswain
Cedric Wysocki manning the boat.
The Stags also had two other entries in the men's championship eight with the second varsity 8 securing 20
th place (12:28.62) and the third varsity 8 finishing 33
rd (13:02.79) in the field.

The men's day also included the varsity 4 race with

Cedric Wysocki crossing the line in 17
th with a time of 13:32.43. The second entry included Tom McLoughlin, Nick Tapini,
Tyler Siwiec,
Zach Siwiec, and coxswain Ryan MacDonald, finishing 25
th in 14:12.43.
The women also competed in the club eight event with two boats taking to the water. The A boat, comprised by Lauren Hoppe, Cailey Chechitelli, Sasha Atencio, Sophie Counts, Caity Gregitis, Sophia Savage, Miranda Schmidt, Julie Pedrazzi, and coxswain Grace Tyszka, secured the 27
th position based on its time of 14:12.21. The B boat, which included Sydney Harwick, Molly Cleary, Emma Squire, Annabelle Langlais, Raquel DeLeo, Sadie Eppinger, Luci Greisman, Ainsley Hoekzema, and coxswain Leah Murphy, garnered the 31
st position with a time of 14:30.76.
In the open four event, Fairfield's B boat crossed the line in 15:58.63 behind the efforts of Zoey Ames, Grace Polatsek, Sasha Atencio, Julie Pedrazzi, and Emma Singer. The A boat came in one place behind their teammates with a time of 16:03.82 with Ava Bistoff, Jill Newman, Gia Enderle, Caity Gregitis, and coxswain Alisa Tsavaris representing the Stags.
The women's team will return to the water next Saturday when it makes the short trip to the Heart of the Housatonic in Shelton. Both teams will complete their Fall seasons on November 8 at the Hudson Sprints in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
